11th April 2026 marked a memorable evening for Uttoran, a meaningful initiative dedicated to senior citizens, as it successfully celebrated its 22nd event with great enthusiasm and community participation.
The evening began on a generous note with a donation of ₹15,000 towards the Skill Development Department. This contribution will support the purchase of a new sewing machine, aimed at strengthening the existing workforce and enhancing livelihood opportunities for participants.
The highlight of the evening was the captivating presence of Sree Kamal Nashkar, a renowned mime artist and founder of the Modern Mime Centre. Having trained under the legendary Jogesh Dutta, Mr. Nashkar has independently developed nearly 42 characters inspired by the Ramayana and is currently working on a book dedicated to the art of mime. During the event, he conducted a special interactive session with nine children aged between 10 and 15, offering them a unique introduction to mime on stage. Mr. Nashkar’s live performances deeply mesmerized the audience, leaving them asking for more. His artistry brought a rare blend of storytelling, emotion, and cultural richness to the evening.

The event witnessed the presence of approximately 150 attendees, creating a vibrant and supportive atmosphere. Like previous events ,friendly interactive contest was arranged to engage audience, this time the topic was ‘Barshosesh ebong Nabobarsho’ (Bengali New Year). Adding to the spirit of empowerment, a variety of handcrafted bags made by participants of the Skill Development Programme were showcased and received an enthusiastic response, with many items being sold.
Another significant moment of the evening was the release of “Sevek” (12th Year, 1st Edition), the quarterly bulletin of Gandhi Seva Sangha.

Overall, the event beautifully reflected Uttoran’s commitment to community engagement, creative expression, and sustainable development—making it an evening to remember.
